Episode 39 - Foster Care in the Media

We bemoan the bad wrap foster parenting tends to get in the media.  We also offer up a review of the movie “Losing Isaiah” starring Halle Berry and Jessica Lange.

Stay tuned for the end of this episode.  We have a special treat for all of our listeners.  You’ll want to hear it.

We have been listening to all your podcasts and I think they are great.
We have one loin child :) & one fost-adopt child and it looks like he may be reunified with his birth father. Colud you talk more about that and possibly to others that have gone through it that have bio kids? Here they call it a disruption.
    Thanks

    Tim and Wendy,
By the way, is there a way to listen to your past podcasts? I can’t figure it out. Are there archives I’m missing?
    thanks,

    Hi Tim & Wendy,
I have really enjoyed listening to your podcast. My husband and I have been working through the process of getting our foster care license. We have talked about adoption as well. You guys are great and make me laugh. I was listening to one episode right after the other until I am now caught up. Now I can’t wait for you to post the next one. I had to laugh when listening to the episode when Wendy taked about sarching for anything dealing with adoption or foster care on Tivo because I do the same thing. I also watched the Siberian Adoption Hotel show. You’re not alone Wendy is thinking what was that woman thinking that she can’t get white babies in America. Also, Adoption Stories is on Discovery Health. Looking forward to listening to you soon.

We have been listening chronologically through your podcasts trying to catch up, and listened to this one yesterday. We keep on going back to it to listen to the song at the end. It is so sweet! We are assuming that was Wendy singing with Linda and Andrea (NTRNs). We think that should become a regular feature of your podcast. It is even better than the Listener Corner jingles, as wonderful as they were!

My wife and I are currently fostering a two year old boy, who is officially the CUTEST BOY IN THE WORLD! We also are in the middle of adopting a special needs girl from Guatemala. Two processes at once can be pretty emotionally taxing, so when DHR called us this week asking if we would take a placement of a little boy that was in the Neonatal ICU, with a completely uncertain future, our immediate response was, “I don’t THINK so!” But the more we thought, prayed and talked with each other and with those who we are close to, the more we realized this was a good fit, and finally decided to accept the placement. I wanted you to know that a part of our decision making process was “What Would Tim & Wendy Do?” Do you think they make bracelets or T-shirts with a “WWT&WD?” logo on them?

Thoroughly enjoy your podcasts. They have become a part of our lives…when we get in the car, or are sitting down on the couch with a snack: “Hey, let’s listen to another Foster Parenting Podcast!” We are going to be a little anxious when we finally catch up with the “live” podcasts. Have you considered doing any “Prequel Podcasts” Like “Life with Tim & Wendy before foster parenting” or “How Tim & Wendy met”? Think about it. :)

Wow David, congratulations on the new placement. You flatter us too much, but glad to hear that we’re an inspiration in your decision making process.

As far as “The Tim & Wendy Anthology”. . . don’t get your hopes up. :)
