Tim and Wendy,
I just found your podcast site tonight from reading Cindy Bodie’s blog. Thanks so much for doing this!! I have been looking for foster care blogs. I just finished my foster care license paperwork on Friday at 1:30, and at 3:30 the same day I got my first call for a placement. So tomorrow afternoon I will have a 12 year old girl placed with me!! I’m excited and nervous!!! I certainly didn’t think it would be such a short time to get a placement.
I am a young, single, Christian, university professor.
One question, I was wondering whether it was hard to find foster care blogs due to the necessity to keep children’s stories confidential. Do you have any thoughts on this? I would like to start a blog also, but don’t want to overstep any privacy issues.

Hi,

I just wanted to say thank you again for your podcast describing the small victories. I could totally relate to the strange dichotomy of the closeness and trust that comes out of strong discipline. My husband and I have just brought home two three year old girls whom we are already in love with. It’ll still be a long ride, longer than they originally told us, but we’re willing to be on it. Meanwhile, I appreciate your podcast for the moral support and information.

Just wanted to let you know that I placed a link to your podcast on my blog. Jesse and I are reading and praying about beginning the process of adoption. Thanks for your help and encouragement through this podcast! I’m still trying to get my husband to listen. Maybe if I lie and tell him you talk about gardening. He’d be down with that. Could you do a podcast about gardening with your girls?! J/K You are all in our prayers as you continue with the process.

Renee,

Hats off to your sister! We know some single foster/adoptive parents who have done a phenomenal job. I can only imagine how difficult it is to be a single parent, but even more so as a single foster parent. With your support and God’s guidance, your sister will find the strength to do this and to do it well. Please encourage her with notes, a listening ear and visits. Chocolate helps too.

And, hats off to you! As an extended family member, very few people will be telling YOU what an important role you play in your sister’s foster care experience. But I will tell you… you can make or break her experience, and God’s face will shine on you for spending yourself in behalf of your sister and her child (Isaiah 58).

Thank you for your podcast. My sister is in the foster parenting program in Texas and hoping to have a little one soon. Because she is single, there are different challenges. Listening to your show will help me know how to support and pray for her.

Hi, Tim and Wendy!
We are also a “young, Christian couple” who have been foster parents for 4 months. Our only placement at this time is a baby boy we received when he was only 3 days old. He is now 4 months old. Every moment with him is a blessing and we love being his foster parents and we hope to adopt him in the future. We live in Florida and there have been several hearings for this case so far (and many court dates postponed), but we are confused about the order in which everything will take place (the current goal for his case is adoption). It is very difficult to get in touch with his case worker to receive information and updates. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks for the podcast. I am new to the podcast and blog experience. My husband and I have been foster parents for 4 years and it is great to hear from others who have similar experiences as foster parents. We have 6 children. Three birth-3 foster. Sounds like you have a lot of the same experiences as us. God Bless and keep up the good work.
