Episode 1 – Meet Tim and Wendy

Our first episode. We talk about the kids we’ve had in our home and the kids that are about to enter our home.

This episode is a little bit about us, plus:

  • Why are kids in foster care?
  • What’s the difference between “foster” and “fost/adopt?”
  • Which kids are coming into our home? Who the heck are Andrea and Linda?

    who hoo, first comment! =)
Just listened, great job! So happy for you and your new phase of your life.

And yes, Tim you did over-explain. =)

If you do get the girls placed with you, would they stay at their current child-care during the day (to keep consistency) or would one of you work in the evenings? Just curious.

    Thanks for the updates!

Tim, don’t let that wife of yours dominate the podcast. You need be a man and lock that down.

Seriously, you two, thanks for doing this. I think it’s great. Carey and I have (and continue to, between you and me and the internet) seriously considered adoption and I’m really looking forward to listening to future episodes with her. You two are saints and the world is a sweeter place because you’re taking on foster parenthood.

    Keep going. We’re all ears!

WOW! that’s great to hear that you’re thinking about it. There’s our incentive right there to do a good job here.

Ooooh! This is so great!!!! I’m glad you started this podcast. I’ll be a faithful listener. I can’t wait to hear an update on the possibility of taking in Andrea and Linda. I hope that works out! Our girls are the same distance apart as them (and it’s wonderful to have two little girls close together) so I’m really hoping this placement works out for them and for you. I’ll bet they are just precious.

We will definitely tune in to see what’s new with your fostering process. If you do end up being placed with Andrea and Linda, please know that we’d love to come visit, or have you visit us, and offer them some friends to interact with. Our girls would love to play with them! Let us know if you need anything that might pertain to that age group- I am sure we have lots we could share!

We love you guys and are praying for everything that you do! What a blessing you are to the little children.

    Hello Tim and Wendy,
I must tell you as a foster parent for two full years now and listening to 4 episodes I can tell you that your doing a great job and educating me.

My wife and I are doing treatment foster care which is a different level but all the same it’s great.

We are having our monthly meeting tonight and I am going to introduce my ipod and your podcast at the meeting so instead of listening to music maybe i can get some people to listen to your podcast.

Excellent job, please don’t let this podcast end like most of them do, we need you around.

People are so uninformitve about being foster parents they are actually too nervous to give it a try. I’m sure you can convince them otherwise.

    Great Job!

    Danny,

Hats off to you as a treatment foster parent. Check out episode #15 for an account of our experience doing Intensive Treatment Foster Care with “Clare.” (This is what it’s called in California–I assume it’s the same thing.)

We handled it for 3 wee months. At two years, I bet you’re on the short list for attaining sainthood!

    Wendy
